Park Success Story: St. Mary’s Playground Now Open For Play!

 St. Mary's PlaygroundOn July 25th, the city’s newest and most accessible playground opened in Bernal Heights. St. Mary’s Playground was constructed for $3.1 million, and offers some very unique elements.

Designed as a “boundless” playground, the play structures allow for children in wheelchairs to access all points of this exciting new facility. In addition, the playground includes universally accessible pathways and surfacing, activity transfers that maximize accessibility, and play structures that support children’s development.

“Parks are essential to the well being of our families, communities and environment,” said Supervisor Campos. “I am proud of the grand reopening of St. Mary’s playground and I am pleased that District 9 will have a family-oriented playground in St. Mary’s.”
