South Sunset Movie Night Brings Back Charm of Community Drive-ins

Flyer ImageMiss the days when your whole family would pile into the car and roll into your community drive-in theater, eager for salty popcorn and big laughs? Well, the Playfields Stewardship Initiative is bringing back the family movie night charm on June 25, 2010 at the South Sunset Playground Clubhouse by hosting a free movie showing.

“South Sunset Playground is an amazing park that offers so much to the surrounding community. Together with local park users, the Playfields Stewardship Initiative has been planning fun social events around the park for the past two years. I hope this free movie night will get neighbors even more excited about using their park and holding ongoing volunteer workdays and events here,” said Initiative Coordinator Matt Silva.

The Playfields Stewardship Initiative is a partnership between the Neighborhood Parks Council (NPC), City Fields Foundation (CFF), and the Recreation and Parks Department (RPD) that aims to ensure community enjoyment of newly-installed synthetic turf fields, and to maximize the life expectancy of these fields. This is accomplished by organizing sustainable park stewardship groups, which host park cleanups, meetings about playfield concerns, and community-building events.
