At NPC's annual meeting with the Mayor on June 2nd, Mayor Newsom announced Phil Ginsburg as the new General Manager of Rec and Park. Ginsburg will start his job on July 7th. Interested park advocates can meet Phil at the NPC Summer Social on July 8th.
Mayor Newsom emphasized that Phil was chosen after a nationwide search and noted that he wanted to find someone that could run Rec and Park during challenging times.
He was also chosen because he had existing relationships with City agencies, and had a true passion for parks. At the Mayor's meeting, Phil mentioned that his first experience in San Francisco after finishing law school was volunteering with NPC, and that he is an avid runner and has children who play soccer. NPC welcomes Phil Ginsburg, and we look forward to his leadership--he certainly has a big job ahead!
