Whether you are currently enjoying the bounty of a home or community garden, or are planning for next year, we'll discuss how to harvest and store seeds properly, and how to avoid unwanted crosses between your vegetables (selection of varieties, timing, hand-pollination). Learn to save seed in advance of GFE’s Seed Swap this-coming Fall! To pre-register, please call (415) 731-5627, or email info@gardenfortheenvironment.

Help McLaren Park have a $2000 grant from SF Parks Trust for our kiosk that is going to expire this year, but unfortunately $2000 isn't enough. Any monies raised at events for Help McLaren Park this year will go toward the cost of installing a new informational kiosk in the park. We were told we would need approximately $5000 but this was an early and very rough estimate. Don't get discouraged. We have a lot of wonderful and quite resourceful members that might help us find another grant so see this opportunity and dream realized. I hope to see as many of you as possible at this years chili cook off.

On behalf of Urban Farming we would like to invite you to join us as we kick-off a new community-based home farm in San Francisco at McAllister Avenue and Larkin Street on Tuesday March 23. There will be a groundbreaking “first shovel” ceremony and press conference at 10:00 a.m. and we’d be honored to have you join us.
Urban Farming is collaborating with Triscuit’s Home Farming campaign to create 50 farms in cities across the country this year. The program aims to convert otherwise unused land into a source of fresh food for the communities. The food grown at the McAllister and Larkin community garden will go directly to the volunteers who help maintain it. The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) residents are the active garden stewards, and the community will always be welcome to grow, enjoy and share in the harvest.
